What does the schedule of events look like at WYD?

Every World Youth Day has the same general structure.

On Tuesday evening, the opening Mass is celebrated by the Archbishop of the host city. On Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings, catechesis sessions with Mass are hosted at various locations throughout the city. On Thursday evening, there is an event to welcome the Holy Father to WYD, and on Friday evening, everyone gathers with the Pope to pray the Stations of the Cross.

Additionally, throughout this time, there are talks, concerts, exhibits, and other activities all around the city, as well as a Vocations Fair and opportunities for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

World Youth Day culminates with a walking pilgrimage to the Vigil Site, where the Pope will lead everyone in prayer and Eucharistic Adoration on Saturday night. After pilgrims sleep under the stars, the Holy Father celebrates a Mass concluding the event and sends pilgrims home to spread the joy that they encountered.
