What pilgrimage sites should I visit in Seoul?

  • The Archdiocese of Seoul has put together three walking pilgrimage routes connecting the various shrines and churches in the city that are officially recognized by the Vatican. You may not have time to visit all of these sites, or may not be able to walk to all of them (we encourage the use of public transportation!), we hope you see as many as possible! Some of our favorite sites are below:
    • Gahoe-Dong Church: Site of the first Mass celebrated in Korea.
    • Dangoggae Shrine: Where 8 women were martyred, including Bl. Maria Yi Seong-Rye. Some of our favorite art in Korea is here!
    • Saenamteo Shrine: Where hundreds of priests, including St. Andrew Kim Dae-gon, were martyred.
  • More information about the shrines and churches in Seoul will be included in pilgrims’ pre-departure resources from Verso.
